Synopsis
The Church of Satan is a religious organization founded by Anton LaVey, an American author and musician. LaVey, who was born in Chicago, Illinois, is best known for his book *The Satanic Bible*, which outlines the principles and philosophy of Satanism as a structured belief system. Contrary to popular misconceptions, the Church of Satan does not engage in the violent or orgiastic rituals often associated with it in the media. Anton LaVey was not a figure akin to Charles Manson, and his work was far more complex and philosophical than sensationalist portrayals suggest. His journey and contributions are explored in the documentary by Nick Bougas, which uses archival footage to present a portrait of LaVey as an artist, musician, and thinker. The film was released just two years before LaVey's death.
