Tom Holland called Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman to delay Spider-Man: Brand New Day so he could film Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey first. Holland explained that Nolan's reputation for keeping productions on schedule helped convince Sony to adjust the timeline. The Odyssey finished filming early, allowing the Spider-Man team to hire Destin Daniel Cretton as director and develop the script further.
