Jerzy Stuhr, Poland's most beloved actor, wrote and directed this charming comedy that plays to his image as an innocent figure caught in a cynical world. Stuhr stars as Gustav, a Kraków professor who is asked to show a visiting Swedish professor around the city. The flirtatious Swede quickly grows bored with Gustav's dry lectures on Polish heroes and suggests they seek out female companionship, a task that proves beyond the shy academic's capabilities. Eventually, Gustav calls Isa, an old girlfriend from his distant past, who was last seen writing a dissertation on the mating habits of geese. While Isa is not what the Swede had in mind, Gustav views his old flame through the idealized lens of memory.
