Synopsis

Pluto is seduced by a satyr and celebrates the arrival of spring by wandering and enjoying its scents. He then imitates the sounds of various animals. When he imitates a butterfly—having previously watched it transform from a caterpillar—it causes trouble. The butterfly had performed a small dance with a water droplet, and Pluto chooses a beehive as his "ball." The bees attack him, and he escapes by diving into a bush of poison ivy. The gentle spring rains then arrive, accompanied by hail ("hail, hail the rains"), which wreaks havoc on Pluto's house. When the satyr returns, Pluto greets him as he deserves.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 7

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
