Synopsis
*MTV Unplugged* is a DVD released in 2002 by the band Staind. The main feature of the DVD is the band's unplugged performance, recorded at MTV studios in Times Square, New York. The show was recorded shortly before the release of the band's third album, *Break the Cycle*. The performance was notable for demonstrating how many of Staind's heavier songs could be adapted to an acoustic format. Of particular note is the song "Can't Believe," one of the heaviest tracks from *Break the Cycle*, which features heavy guitar riffs and loud vocals but was reimagined in a quiet, melodic form filled with sorrow. The success of the unplugged show led Staind to incorporate the acoustic format more frequently in their performances. During the tour for their album *14 Shades of Grey*, the band often alternated between electric and acoustic sets. Aaron Lewis, Staind's vocalist and rhythm guitarist, also performed a small number of solo shows using only an acoustic guitar.
