Synopsis

In honor of Star Trek's 50th anniversary, this two-hour documentary provides an in-depth, candid look at the enduring legacy of the franchise, tracing the original series' cancellation and its eventual revival as one of Hollywood's most successful film series. The documentary includes new interviews with key creative and production personnel, as well as previously unseen images from the making of all six classic Star Trek films. It also covers details about various unproduced theatrical projects, including *The God Thing*, *Star Trek: Planet of the Titans*, *Star Trek: The Academy Years*, and several other abandoned big-screen ventures for the crew of the Enterprise. The documentary is divided into five chapters: Chapter 1 - The New Frontier: Resurrecting Star Trek; Chapter 2 - Maiden Voyage: Making Star Trek The Motion Picture; Chapter 3 - The Genesis Effect: Engineering The Wrath of Khan; Chapter 4 - The Dream Is Alive: The Continuing Mission; and Chapter 5 - End of an Era: Charting The Undiscovered Country.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 12

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
