Synopsis
*Steal This Film* centers on Pirate Bay founders Gottfrid Svartholm, Fredrik Neij, and Peter Sunde, who are prominent figures in the Swedish filesharing community. The filmmakers argued that traditional "Old Media" documentary crews failed to grasp the internet culture in which filesharers participated, viewing peer-to-peer organization as a threat to their own business models. As a result, they aimed to portray the filesharing community authentically from an insider perspective. The film was released and distributed free of charge through the same filesharing networks it documents.
