Stella Shorts 1998-2002
Synopsis
STELLA is a three-member comedy troupe based in New York City, consisting of comedians and actors Michael Showalter, David Wain, and Michael Ian Black. While they have performed regularly at comedy clubs, they are best known for their independently produced short films. The STELLA SHORTS have gained a cult following due to their nonsensical plots, absurd dialogue, graphic sexual humor, occasional violence, and overall comedic energy. A DVD compilation features the group's first twenty-three shorts, each noted for its increasing levels of absurdity and humor. Notable entries include a chaotic game of whiffleball, a questionable expedition to the South Pole to meet Santa Claus, a tense mustache-growing contest, a dark "whodunit"-style murder mystery, and many other bizarre scenarios.
