Synopsis
The expulsion of Serbs from Krajina in 1995 was part of a broader conflict in the former Yugoslavia. Following the Croatian government's military operation known as Operation Storm in August 1995, which aimed to retake areas held by Serb forces, a large number of Serbs were displaced from the Krajina region. The operation led to the collapse of the self-proclaimed Republic of Serbian Krajina, and many Serbs fled or were expelled, often under difficult circumstances. The displacement caused significant suffering, with many losing their homes, livelihoods, and in some cases, family members. The events of 1995 marked a turning point in the Yugoslav Wars and had lasting effects on the Serb communities in Croatia, many of whom continue to live in exile or in displaced persons' status.
