Synopsis
AWA Super Clash '85 – The Night of Champions was the first Super Clash professional wrestling supercard event promoted by the American Wrestling Association (AWA). Billed as AWA's flagship supercard and its biggest event of the year, it took place at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois, on September 28, 1985, just months after WrestleMania, an event promoted by the rival WWE. The event reported a paid attendance of 20,347, though it was officially announced as 25,000. Super Clash – The Night of Champions was part of a co-promotional effort between the AWA, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), and World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), aimed at competing with WWE's growing national influence. The collaboration was part of a jointly promoted venture known as Pro Wrestling USA.
