Synopsis
A recent study indicates that the chance of surviving the invasion beaches was 25%, yet 50% of the men survived. This documentary, recognized as the best D-Day documentary ever made, presents an alternative account. A detailed and beautifully crafted reconstruction illustrates events as they unfolded on the beaches that day. During the first hour of the attack, one third of the American soldiers died. The battle proved decisive in shaping the further course of the war. Survivors recount the factors that made conquering the coastlines so difficult. Animated images visually depict the events.
