Sylvia

Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath met in 1956 while they were both students at the University of Cambridge. They married in June 1956 and had two children together, Frieda and Nicholas. Their marriage was marked by intense emotional and creative exchanges, as well as by periods of turmoil and separation. Hughes was Plath's first husband, and their relationship has been the subject of much literary and biographical scrutiny. After their separation in 1962, Plath moved to London with her children, while Hughes remained in the United States. Plath died by suicide in 1963, and Hughes later became the editor of her literary estate, including the controversial publication of her semi-autobiographical novel *The Bell Jar* and her journals. Their correspondence and personal letters were published posthumously and provided further insight into the complexities of their relationship.
