Syrian Bride

In Majdal Shams, the largest Druze village in the Golan Heights on the Israeli-Syrian border, the Druze bride Mona is engaged to Tallel, a television comedian employed at Revolution Studios in Damascus, Syria. The couple has never met due to the area's occupation by Israel since 1967; if Mona moves to Syria, she will lose her undefined nationality and will not be permitted to return home. Mona's father, Hammed, is a pro-Syria political activist currently under probation by the Israeli government. His older son, Hatten, married a Russian woman eight years ago and was exiled from Majdal Shams by both the religious leaders and his father. His brother, Marwan, is a wolf trader living in Italy. His sister, Amal, has two teenage daughters and plans to attend university, though her marriage to Amin is in crisis. As the family gathers for Mona's wedding, an absurd bureaucratic situation threatens to derail the ceremony.
