Tales from the Neverending Story: The Beginning
Synopsis
In *The Neverending Story*, the Childlike Empress exists in a state between life and death, and the fate of her kingdom, Fantasia, depends on a young boy's ability to transcend the boundaries of fantasy. When young Bastian begins reading the book, he discovers that the Childlike Empress is near death and that Fantasia is threatened by the Dark Princess Xayide. As he becomes immersed in the story, Bastian enters the world of Fantasia as his alter ego, Atreyu. To restore balance, Atreyu must seek the aid of his loyal companion Fly Girl and the trickster figures Rip Rowdy and Wexlerian in order to uncover the mystery of the Southern Oracle and awaken the Childlike Empress, thereby saving Fantasia from destruction.
