Synopsis

A bat recounts his life near a Mayan temple, residing in a cave with bats of nine distinct pitches. His mother nurtures him, instructing him in the art of echolocation to catch worms. However, life is not without hardship: his brother perishes while learning to fly, and conflicts arise among the bats, with babies sometimes attacked by those from other pitches. After three years, his sexual maturity emerges, and he mates with numerous females. Occasionally, a god communicates with him, offering comfort and guidance. Simple joys such as drinking water, hunting worms, and engaging in sexual activity bring him happiness. Nevertheless, the threat of extinction looms over his species, and despite his desire to live forever, death remains inevitable.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 2

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
