Synopsis
In *The Beckoning Silence*, Joe Simpson, whose remarkable survival experience was chronicled in the multi-award-winning *Touching the Void*, journeys to the perilous North Face of the Eiger to recount one of mountaineering's most significant tragedies. As a child, this story—and that of one of the climbers in particular—first captivated Simpson's imagination and motivated him to pursue mountaineering.
