The Beggar's Deceit
Synopsis
A legless beggar, carrying a sign around his neck that reads "cripple," pushes himself slowly and with great effort along the pavement using a trolley, asking for alms from passers-by. From a distance, a policeman begins to approach. Suspicious, the officer taps the beggar on the shoulder, prompting the beggar to leap up in alarm and flee on his fully functional legs. The policeman stumbles over the trolley before regaining his balance and starting to chase after him.
