Synopsis
A shoe polish company owner sponsors a radio show that features Black performers. Because his wife's father provided the funding for the sponsorship, she insists on performing on the show. She performs after the main act, singer Nina Mae McKinney. Her poor singing causes the sponsor to lose customers, and he is forced to shine shoes on street corners, while Nina Mae and her boyfriend win a bet on a daily number and achieve financial success.
