Synopsis
The Bloody Ape is a drive-in film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's "Murders in the Rue Morgue" directed by Keith J. Crocker, known for Blitzkrieg: Escape from Stalag 69. The film follows a carnival barker who accidentally releases his 400-pound gorilla, which then goes on a violent rampage across Long Island. The creature's attack results in widespread destruction, with the film depicting graphic scenes of sexual violence and bloodshed. The Bloody Ape is described as a tribute to the grindhouse era, characterized by its explicit content and over-the-top style. The film has been banned at various international film festivals, received little critical attention, and has been criticized for its politically incorrect themes.
