The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off
Synopsis
Jonny Kennedy, who was 36 years old, passed away a year ago. He suffered from Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a severe genetic condition in which his skin would literally slough off at the slightest touch, resulting in painful sores and eventually a battle with skin cancer. In his final months, Kennedy collaborated with filmmaker Patrick Collerton to document his life and death. The resulting film, first broadcast in March, offered an uplifting, confounding, and provocatively humorous portrayal of a unique individual. While not avoiding the harsh realities of EB, the film also served as a tribute to a life lived fully.
