The Broken Landlord
A desperate landowner's life unravels after a disastrous marriage, a fatal wedding night, and a series of betrayals force him from his village into a lonely, ruinous exile in Istanbul.
Synopsis
The landowner (Agha) of the Haraptar village marries his elderly father to the young and beautiful Kiraz. On the night of the wedding, the father dies, and the Agha's fortunes begin to decline. A prolonged drought, combined with the provocations of Kekec Salman, Kiraz's older brother, leads the peasants to steal the crops and flee to Istanbul. Deprived of both labor and harvest, the Agha is forced to sell the village and relocate to Istanbul. Unable to adapt to city life, he spends all his money and possessions. Eventually, his wife and relatives abandon him during his descent into misfortune.
