The Butcher
Synopsis
Willibald Adrian Metzger restores old furniture, appreciating its beauty while enjoying a glass of red wine. The amiable loner travels to his customers by bicycle, as he does not possess a driver's license. He typically focuses on old cupboards and chests of drawers, but this time something different captures his attention: a beautiful woman bathing in a remote mountain lake. The sight causes him to fall from his bicycle—especially since it is his childhood love, Danjela Djurkovic. She does not seem to recognize him, as her focus is on a macabre discovery at their reunion spot: a severed finger, which is immediately stolen by a bird of prey. Willibald and Danjela now share a common goal: the Hotel "Sonnenhof," where a guest's corpse has just been retrieved from the pool. The police suspect an accident. However, before Willibald realizes it, the inquisitive Danjela has taken a farewell letter and the dead man's cell phone.
