Synopsis

This TV adaptation is based on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas. Edmond Dantes is wrongfully accused by individuals envious of his success and is condemned to spend the remainder of his life in the infamous Chateau d'If prison. During his imprisonment, he encounters the Abbe Faria, another prisoner whom others believe to be insane. The Abbe reveals to Edmond the existence of a remarkable treasure hidden on a small island, a secret only he knows. After many years in captivity, the Abbe passes away, and Edmond escapes by disguising himself as the deceased. Now free, Edmond must locate the treasure the Abbe described in order to use its wealth to seek vengeance against those who betrayed him.
