Synopsis
In 1930s Paris, Madeleine, a young, attractive, and destitute actress with no talent, is charged with the murder of a renowned film producer. With the assistance of her best friend, Pauline, a young and unemployed lawyer, she is cleared of the charges on the basis of self-defense. This leads to a new life of celebrity and success for Madeleine, until the truth is eventually revealed.
