Synopsis
This History Channel presentation explores the Dark Ages, beginning with the fall of Rome in the fifth century and examining the widespread chaos across the continent, including raids by the Vikings, Vandals, and Visigoths, as well as the bubonic plague, famine, and civil unrest. The program traces Europe's journey from its most turbulent period to the emergence of a new era, highlighting how the turmoil gave rise to the Crusades, the Enlightenment, and the Renaissance.
