The First Forgotten
Synopsis
For years, Axel has remained estranged from his family, deeply affected by a tragedy for which he was blamed. When the freighter where he worked as a cook made a stop in his hometown, he decided to visit his mother, Françoise. The encounter is jarring: she no longer recognizes him. Suffering from Alzheimer's disease, Françoise has lost large parts of her memory. Axel is the first of the siblings to vanish from her recollection. Why him? What does this omission conceal? While Ivan and Lucie have agreed to have her admitted to a care center, Axel strongly opposes the decision and delays her departure, choosing instead to care for her despite the growing tensions. A long-feared yet essential confrontation unfolds between mother and son.
