Synopsis

On a rugged, desolate coastline, Jesus begins his teachings, largely through the use of parables. He gathers a group of disciples, and his manner is firm, direct, and exacting. Many of his parables challenge the authority of the ruling powers, drawing the attention of the Pharisees, the chief priests, and the elders. They plot to have him arrested, assaulted, put on trial, and crucified—events that Jesus had foretold to his followers.
