Synopsis
Harry Houdini, born Erik Weisz in Budapest in 1874, was a Hungarian-American illusionist and stunt performer best known for his escape acts. Throughout his career, Houdini became deeply interested in the occult, particularly spiritualism and paranormal phenomena. After the death of his wife, Bess Houdini, in 1913, he made a public promise to her that if there was an afterlife, he would communicate with her from beyond the grave. This vow became a central theme in his later life and performances, as he conducted numerous séances and experiments in an attempt to prove the existence of life after death.
