Synopsis

A documentary-drama recounting the Martian War of 1913–1917. In the second decade of the 20th century, Europe was on tenterhooks, with a Great War between the major powers widely anticipated. However, in 1913, something crashed into the forests of southwestern Germany. Troops sent to investigate were wiped out, and soon Martian fighting machines began advancing across Western Europe. European nations combined forces to resist the invasion. Drawing from H.G. Wells' *The War of the Worlds* and elements of World War I, this dramatisation offers a documentary-style portrayal of events as they unfolded and their lasting impact on the world. It includes numerous references to real historical events, such as the mass attacks and defeats as human forces faced mechanical opposition on the Western Front, the Christmas truce, the Angel of Mons, America's isolationism and eventual entry into the conflict, the global Spanish flu epidemic—which claimed more lives than the war itself—and many other significant occurrences.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 18

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
