Synopsis

The House That Ananda Built is a 1968 Indian short documentary film directed by Fali Bilimoria. It portrays the life of a typical Oriya family in Nadpur Village, located in the Mayurbhanj District of India, as they pursue their various vocations. The film centers on Ananda, a successful businessman in Nagpur, tracing his life, his children, and his beliefs over an extended period—from before India's independence to 20 years afterward. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short.
