Synopsis

*CSS Hunley* recounts the true story of the crew of the manually propelled submarine CSS Hunley during the 1864 siege of Charleston. The film highlights the Hunley's historic achievement as the first submersible to sink an enemy vessel in wartime. It also explores the personal dimensions of the story, focusing on the nine men who piloted the Hunley and perished in the process.
