When the body of a teenage girl is discovered naked on the banks of the River Baztán, it is swiftly connected to a similar murder that occurred a month earlier. Rumors quickly spread through the nearby village of Elizondo, raising questions about whether the killings are the work of a ritualistic murderer or the basajaun, a mythical "invisible guardian" of Basque folklore. Inspector Amaia Salazar is assigned to the case, leading her back to the Basque country of her birth, a place she had hoped never to return to. Veiled in mist and encircled by dense forests, the region is marked by unresolved tensions and a traumatic childhood secret that threatens to resurface.
