The Last Hope: U-Boat 864

In 1945, Germany, 25-year-old Ellen is involved in the resistance against the Nazi regime. She meets Robert, a charismatic English secret agent, and they begin an affair. Ellen is tasked with spying on German naval officer Hans, who is to serve as Chief Officer aboard the submarine U 864 on a secret mission. Despite her initial reluctance, Ellen develops feelings for Hans, who is already engaged to another woman but is also drawn to her. Ellen eventually provides crucial information about the submarine's exact route to Japan. The British had long suspected that Hitler intended to send his feared wonder weapon to the struggling Japanese forces. As the U 864 departs its port, the mood onboard is somber, reflecting the deteriorating situation for the Germans in the war.
