Synopsis
The 25-minute film follows the story of Itako, an elderly woman who is seriously ill and confined to her bed. A fox named Okon visits her home, and Itako tells him he is free to take whatever he wishes, as she no longer has any use for her belongings. Grateful, Okon performs a magical jyōruri, a ballad accompanied by the shamisen, which heals Itako and restores her ability to walk. Her sudden recovery astonishes those around her. Itako later learns of a critically injured hunter and, with Okon hidden in her shirt, they perform the healing song together, with Itako playing the shamisen. They continue to use their gift to help others, but Itako's newfound good fortune eventually draws suspicion from some in the community.
