The Mouse of Tomorrow
Synopsis
Super Mouse, later renamed Mighty Mouse, was first introduced in the 1942 animated short "The Mouse Who Saved President Coolidge," produced by Fables Films and directed by Tex Avery. Created by writer-artist Paul R. T. Johnson and developed by Avery, the character was initially conceived as a patriotic superhero mouse during World War II, designed to appeal to both children and adults. The original name, "Super Mouse," was changed to "Mighty Mouse" in 1943 to avoid confusion with another mouse character and to better align with the growing trend of superhero-themed entertainment. The character quickly became a popular figure in the Golden Age of American animation, appearing in a series of theatrical cartoons that combined action, comedy, and patriotic themes.
