The Musicians

Roman Cudakowski, known as Cudak to his friends, performs with a band at weddings and city events. During the occupation, his financial situation worsened. Gaining entry to premises controlled by the Germans became a way to earn money, but such opportunities could not function without a violinist. Cudak brings the talented Szymon Akerman, whom he had not previously agreed with, out of the ghetto for performances. In the changed circumstances, their collaboration becomes essential: Cudak can earn money by playing with Akerman, and both have a chance to survive. Eventually, Roman decides to permanently take the violinist and his family out of the ghetto and hide them in his home, risking his life in the process.
