The People vs. George Lucas
“They gave him their love, their money and their online parodies. He gave them... the prequels.”
Synopsis
The original *Star Wars* trilogy has inspired immense passion among its fans, though many now view George Lucas with a more complicated, love-hate attitude. This documentary explores Lucas's cultural legacy in a humorous yet sincere manner, posing difficult questions about his role in shaping the franchise. It asks whether Lucas betrayed his original work, if he should have left the original trilogy untouched, and whether *The Phantom Menace* is so problematic it warrants a health warning. Drawing from over 600 hours of interview footage and featuring creative Star Wars and *Indiana Jones* recreations in forms such as song, needlepoint, Lego, claymation, puppets, and paper-mâché, the film ultimately raises a central question: who truly owns the galaxy far, far away—the creator or the fans?

How many hands made this film
The scale of the collaboration
Principal cast & crew: 17
These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.
Why a floor?
This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
