The Perfect Padre Pio

Gigione goes on tour, leaving Jo Donatello at home, as he wishes to accompany his father but is unable to. While walking through the city, Donatello meets a friend with two young girls, one of whom clearly takes a liking to him. Donatello captivates her with a dull and overly sentimental love song. The girl, however, is troubled by thoughts of "all those people who fight for freedom," prompting Donatello to offer to become a driver in a series of secret races, which the audience does not get to see. Overseeing the operation is Don Franco, a menacing figure with ties to the Camorra, who takes Donatello under his guidance. When Gigione returns from his successful tour, he discovers that Donatello has become entangled in a dangerous situation. After a vague confrontation with Don Franco, Gigione decides to undertake a pilgrimage to San Giovanni Rotondo to seek forgiveness from Padre Pio.
