The Pest
Synopsis
Stan is Jimmy Smith, a salesman attempting to sell his book about Napoleon to an uninterested customer while standing in front of some iron gates. When an elderly gentleman approaches, he uses sign language to communicate with the "customer," and they leave together. It is then that Stan notices the sign for the Deaf & Dumb Institute that the man was standing in front of. Shortly after, an elderly woman exits through the gates, and Stan tries to communicate with her using sign language. However, she is neither deaf nor mute and responds with verbal abuse for his assumption.
