The Pooch and the Pauper
Synopsis
Liberty, a bulldog whose thoughts are narrated throughout the story, is the "First Dog of the USA," meaning he is the pet of the president. In this role, he carries out numerous representative duties and enjoys many privileges, which have made him arrogant and dismissive of other dogs. However, one day, when young Nataniel takes him for a walk, Liberty is mistaken for Moocher, a stray dog who is his exact twin. Moocher then assumes Liberty's place in the White House, bringing about a significant change in the atmosphere within the presidential residence.
