The Queen and the Coup
Synopsis
Planned by Britain’s MI6 and executed by the U.S. CIA, the coup d’état that follows will dismantle Iran’s last democracy and damage relations between Iran and the West until the present day. Most notably, the truth about Her Majesty’s involvement will be concealed from the Queen herself, as well as from the Shah, who will be installed by Britain and the U.S. to replace Iran’s last democratic Prime Minister. The coup will trigger political instability throughout the Middle East for decades, ultimately contributing to the Islamic Revolution of 1979, which will end the Shah’s rule and British and American influence in Iran, while inspiring numerous Islamist revolutions around the world.
