Synopsis
*The Queen of Versailles* follows billionaires Jackie and David as their rags-to-riches story reveals the virtues and flaws of their American dream. The film opens with the construction of the largest house in America, a 90,000-square-foot mansion inspired by Versailles, financed by their booming timeshare business built on the real-estate bubble. When the economic crisis strikes, construction halts and the fate of the project—and its owners—becomes uncertain. Over the next two years, the film documents the impact of this financial downturn, capturing moments of delusion, denial, and self-effacing humor.
