Synopsis
Lizzie Curry is close to remaining unmarried, despite her wit, intelligence and homemaking abilities, which she cannot use to overcome her plain appearance. She secretly desires the town sheriff, File, who does not pursue a relationship with her. When a drought strikes the town, Bill Starbuck arrives; he works as a rainmaker and becomes involved in the lives of Lizzie, her brothers and their father.
