The Seinfeld Story
Synopsis
The origins of *Seinfeld* trace back to a 1989 stand-up comedy special titled *The George Carlin Show*, in which Jerry Seinfeld performed a set about the mundane aspects of everyday life. Inspired by this, Seinfeld and his stand-up partner, Larry David, developed a pilot script for a sitcom centered on characters who discuss nothing in particular, with the working title *The Seinfeld Chronicles*. The pilot was produced in 1990 and initially rejected by several networks. After revisions, it was picked up by NBC in 1991, with a reduced budget and a shortened title, simply *Seinfeld*. The show premiered on July 5, 1991, and became a critical and commercial success, running for nine seasons until 1998.
