The Sex Warriors and the Samurai
Synopsis
A candid story follows a Filipino transvestite who works in Japan's entertainment industry to support his family. During the day, Joan undergoes training to prepare for his work as an entertainer in Japan. At night, he performs as a female impersonator in Manila's gay bars. He does all this to support a family of eighteen. Although it is Joan’s fourth trip to Japan, he still struggles to earn enough money to improve their lives. While working in the bar, he meets other gay entertainers who discuss the challenges Filipino entertainers face while working in Japan. The situation is not much different from the life Joan once led in the Philippines, where he was once arrested during a drug bust. Threats and difficulties seem to follow these sex workers wherever they go.
