The Sleeper's Wife

Karla works in a call center and marries Zaid Yakin, with whom she enjoys a seemingly happy marriage. Even the death of her father-in-law does not cause her to question the stability of her family life, until one night when her husband and their son, Hamy, vanish without a trace. Shortly after, she is approached by officials from the Federal Intelligence Service regarding the ongoing investigation. It emerges that Zaid has returned to his home country, Sudan, to plan a terrorist attack. Determined to find her son, Karla travels to Africa, disguising herself as a Muslim woman in a burka. She discovers that Zaid has been deceiving her from the beginning: his family is not impoverished but involved in arms dealing. Zaid himself is a "sleeper" agent, trained to act as a suicide bomber, with the Christmas market as his intended target.
