The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
SpongeBob must rally his friends and brave the surface world to reclaim the stolen Krabby Patty secret formula before the pirate Burger Beard’s magic‑book powers turn Bikini Bottom into chaos.
“Making waves in our world.”
Synopsis
In *The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run*, the evil pirate Burger Beard seeks the final page of a magical book that has the power to make any evil plan written in it come true. Unbeknownst to him, the final page is actually the Krabby Patty secret formula. When Burger Beard's actions threaten Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Sandy, and Plankton set out on a quest to recover the recipe and save their city. Their journey leads them to the surface world, where they are transformed into superheroes.

A crew of 72+ credited
Why a floor?
This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.

💰 Box-office hit — grossed 4.4× its budget
Why 2.5×?
Cinemas keep roughly half of every ticket sold, and a wide release’s marketing often costs about as much again as the film — so a movie needs to gross around 2.5× its production budget just to break even theatrically. It’s a rule of thumb, not the studio’s ledger (home video and streaming come later).
