Synopsis

Margaret Elliot, an actress whose career has declined, continues to work despite encouragement from her daughter Gretchen and former colleague Jim Johannsen to retire. She believes she can restore her earlier success and pursues a sought‑after Hollywood role, while Johannsen persistently attempts to convince her that her ambitions are misguided.
