The Train Rolls On
Synopsis
This half-hour documentary by Chris Marker examines Aleksandr Medvedkin’s 1930s “Cine-Train,” a mobile film studio outfitted with cameras, editing rooms, animation stations, and a laboratory. As the train moved through the Soviet countryside, its crew recorded agricultural and industrial activities, including Ukrainian harvests and southern steel production, while residing and working in close quarters.
