The Way Things Go
Synopsis
Peter Fischli and David Weiss created a Rube Goldberg machine using found objects, assembling a complex and interdependent contraption in an empty warehouse. When set in motion, the machine triggers a domino-like chain reaction through its imaginative devices. Elements such as fire, water, gravity, and chemistry influence the life-cycle of the objects. The process illustrates themes of cause and effect, mechanism and art, and improbability and precision, forming an extended science project that captivates the mind.
